  • Airport transit visa (type A) - given for entry into the international transit zone at an Estonian airport and for the stay therein allowing for the departure to the next transit country or arrival country, where the person has a legal basis to enter. This visa shall not grant the alien the right to enter Estonia or stay in Estonia.
  • Transit visa (type B) - entitles aliens who are travelling from one-third country to another third country, to pass through the territories of Schengen countries. This visa may be issued for one trip or exceptionally several transits provided that the duration in each case does not exceed five days.
  • Short-stay visa (type C) - given for single- or multiple-entry stays up to 90 days within six months in Schengen area.
  • Long-stay visa (type D) may be issued for single or multiple entries into Estonia and stay in Estonia to an alien who:
  • is a journalist accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who is representing foreign media;
  • is the honorary consul of Estonia;
  • has registered his or her short-time employment in Estonia before application for the visa;
  • is a person determined in an international agreement, under the conditions determined by the international agreement;
  • is the spouse, a minor child or an adult child, who due to his or her state of health or disability, is unable cope independently, of a person specified in clauses 1)-3) of this subsection, if he or she enters into Estonia together with the specified person or to stay with the specified person.
  • Diplomatic visa and service visa
  • A diplomatic visa of category B or C may be issued to a person who travels through Estonia in transit or is sent to Estonia on official business and who is enjoying a diplomatic status of a foreign state or an international organisation.
  • A diplomatic visa of category C may be issued to a person who is sent to Estonia on official business and to whom diplomatic immunity and privileges are ensured in the territory of Estonia, on the basis of the international obligations of Estonia or an international agreement.
  • The Ministry of Foreign Affairs may issue multiple-entry diplomatic or service visas of category D with a period of validity and period of stay until the end of the period of accreditation to the staff of diplomatic representations and consular posts of foreign states and representations of international organisations, provided that the staff is accredited to Estonia, their family members and private staff.
