Description

On 26 October 2009, the EU countries agreed to adopt a common strategy for the Baltic Sea region. Among other issues one of the key challenges to be addressed by the strategy is prosperity and sustainable environment of the region that can be achieved by better coordinated actions and innovative technologies and business modalities.

In this framework, the 9th ScanBalt Forum 2010 will be organized in Tallinn, September 22-24, 2010.  The forum subtitled as "Healthy Future" will focus on the variety of issues from life style and food to health related technologies and services as well as industrial biotechnology. All these issues are targeting to longer and better life, whether by getting more efficient and effective health services or improving our environment.

On the national level, the Estonian Government has approved in early 2010 a strategy document for Estonian biotechnology for the next 4 years. The ScanBalt Forum 2010 will be an excellent opportunity for Estonia to provide insight to the biotechnology and health related activities in the country.  The forum is organised jointly by Enterprise Estonia, Estonian Genome Foundation and Estonian Biotech Association under the auspices of ScanBalt BioRegion.

The 3-days Forum program includes:
  • Plenary and ScanBalt Academy sessions
  • Session on Smart Growth as a Tool to Compete
  • Session on ScanBalt Health Region
  • Session on Healthy Ageing in the Baltic Sea Region
  • Session on Patient Mobility and Health Industry
  • Healthy Food and Efficient Food Industry sessions
  • Session on Biotechnology parks in the ScanBalt Region
  • Session on the Estonian Bioeconomy: Status Quo and Future Perspectives
  • The Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) match-making sessions

The Forum program contains also the Workshop on White Biotech and the ScanBalt Biomaterial Days. In connection with the Forum, a press tour is organised for international life science journalists on September 20-21.

The ScanBalt Forum 2010 provides superb opportunities for communication, consolidation of new contacts and exchanging ideas in an informal environment. Additionally, all participants of the conference will be offered a chance to visit the biotechnology companies located in Tallinn.

The Forum will take place in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.  As the organisers, we hope that your stay in Tallinn will be both enjoyable and professionally stimulating.
