Chinese interest in Estonian container terminal remains strong

BNS - China's interest in an expanding container terminal at Estonia's main merchant port of Muuga has not waned, spokesman for Tallinna Sadam (Port of Tallinn) Sven Ratassepp said.

The president of the Ningbo group and the vice president and European representatives of an ocean container shipping company were present in a meeting with Chinese entrepreneurs, Ratassepp told BNS.

"The talks were productive, but all negotiations do not end with a contract. We shall continue cooperation towards the common goal," he said.

Ratassepp added however that the state-owned port company will continue talks with other potential partners in developing the container terminal.

Tallinna Sadam has 27 hectares of additional terminal territory together with 400 meters of wharves under construction in the eastern part of the port of Muuga.
