Estonia: Arcelormittal calls workers back to its Muuga facility

BNS - The Arcelormittal steel group Monday called back its workers to its hot-dipped galvanized steel facility in Estonia's Muuga port.

Arcelormittal is planning to launch the facility during February, but has left the date open for the time being.

Moonika Lamp, board member of Arcelormittal Tallinn OU and head of the general affairs department, told BNS that the company had noticed restoration of demand concerning galvanized products and was making prepartions for gradually launching the Muuga facility.

But she added that the general market condition was still weak.

Arcelormittal Tallinn wound up production at its hot-dipped galvanized steel facility at the end of April, leaving nearly 100 people jobless.

The Arcelormittal group acquired the facility that had earlier operated under the name of Galvex Estonia in 2008.
