BNS - The Estonian listed company AS Kalev is going to give up its name in favor of the chocolate factory, a company in the Kalev group.
Oliver Kruuda, the core owner of Kalev, said in the Terevisioon public ETV program Thursday morning that Kalev was planning to change its present name and give it back to the chocolate factory.
"If in 2006 we restructured the company so that the food industry company became a separate unit and the mother company took the name of Kalev then we have now decided that we will give back the name of Kalev to the chocolate factory as it was from the very start."
To change the name Kalev has called a general meeting of shareholders. Kruuda said that Kalev would have a new name starting from next week.
Concerning sale of Kalev's food industry company, Kruuda said that the group was working with that purpose in mind but the current situation of the market was such that it was not wise to make this kind of transactions. Concerning Kalev's media business, he said that the fate of the Kalev.ee news portal had not yet been decided.
