BNS - Ambient Sound Investments, an investment group of Estonian founding engineers of Skype, has in its incubator a technology project of the InkSpinTwo company to develop a digital forward-looking sonar, the weekly Eesti Ekspress reports.
The novel sonar would make ship navigation simpler and safer.
The manager of InkSpinTwo, Arno Rannaste, said the advantage of the technology lies in that the sonar will detect underwater objects such as rocks even when a ship is traveling at a high speed of up to 20 knots.
The leader of the project is the well-known Estonian hydrography expert Peeter Ude.
