Estonia's Draka Keila Cables invests EUR 1.6 mln in production

BNS - The Estonian cable manufacturer Draka Keila Cables has invested 25 million kroons (EUR 1.6 mln) in production as a result of which output will soar by 60 percent and the production area grow by 3,700 square meters.

The company said the extension increased the production area to 12,300 square meters.

The company's plant in Keila, northwestern Estonia, makes low voltage and special purpose cables, telecommunication cables and power cables using 15 production lines of which two are new.

The turnover of the Keila unit was 399.4 million kroons in 2009. Exports made up 283.97 million kroons or 71 percent of total sales.

The company is owned by the cable group Draka Holding (66 percent) and the listed Estonian electrical equipment maker Harju Elekter (34 percent).

Customers of Draka Keila Cables include power networks, builders of electricity and telecommunication systems, industrial enterprises and wholesalers of electrical supplies.
