ERR News - The Innovative Manufacturing Engineering Systems Competence Centre (IMECC) established in 2009 to develop technology in collaboration with Tallinn University of Technology researchers and IT companies is seeing its first fruits.
With firms based mainly in Tallinn and its vicinity and several in Pärnu, IMECC will receive an injection of over 7 million euros of European Union and Estonian state funding, according to the news program Aktuaalne Kaamera.
On September 16, the consortium's companies met in Pärnu at the STRAM metal furniture plant, where the first results of a new and ambitious project could be seen - a welding robot that does the work of more than one person.
"This innovative solution is for a specific welding manufacturing process. It doesn't only cover automation but also a conceptual solution that employs a quite advanced technology," said STRAM managing director Marko Kokla.
